Newsletter #3 - 12 March 2025

We are slowly nearing the end of Term 1 for 2025. Here are some important information I would like to share with you all:

SCHEDULE

WEEK 9 - Wed, 12 - Tue, 18 March

This week is Review week and Study Guidelines. Yes, we are doing our first test for the year next week. This also means that all new work will be stopped for the term.

WEEK 10 - Wed, 19 - Tue, 25 March including Friday, 28 March.

As we have a Public Holiday on the 21st of March, those students that are writing Term 1 test will write only on Friday, 28 March.

WEEK 11 - Wed, 26 March - Tue 1 April

Progress Review week will entail me sitting with each of you during your session and reviewing Progress for Term 1. I will critique your progress as well as plan our next Term together so that we stay aligned with our goals going forward.

Wed, 2 April and Thurs, 3 April

These are two days that fall outside my weekly planning. Those students that have lesson on these days will do normal work ie. playing or additional math and science practice.

PUBLIC HOLIDAY - 21 MARCH 2025

Friday, 21 March is a public holiday; Human Rights Day. There will be no lessons for this day.

TERM 1 ENDS

A reminder that Term 1 ends on Thursday, 3 April meaning the studio is closed from Friday, 4 April.

EXTRA LESSONS OVER THE HOLIDAY

I am thinking of doing extended lessons during the holiday for Math and Science. This might be one-one-one or group sessions on specific topics. This will be limited to Grade 8 - 12 students only. I will make dates available soon should you want to utilise these. This will also be for Waiting List students that haven't gotten a tutor as of yet and want to do some catchup work. Please note, this is not for making up lessons but to help with additional practice and those that are in desperate need of more attention.

AN INCREASE IN LESSON CANCELLATION AND DEFERRALS

I have noticed an increase in lessons cancellations and deferrals from many students due to extra curricular activities getting in the way of our scheduled time. Please note, our time is scheduled and as such, if you cannot make the lesson or I cannot find you a suitable spot within that week of the problem, the lesson are missed and no credit will be given. I cannot bank lessons, or try to catch them up. I run at 95% capacity with only 2 or three slots that I can use to reschedule a lesson within a typical week.

WEATHER AND TRAVEL LOGISTICS

For the last few weeks the weather has wreaked havoc on our roads and communities. Each time the weather hits it impacts the travel time for me to get to lessons. My travel times are worked out exactly so that I can fit in as many lessons as possible. But the weather is creating problems with that currently not to mention making it very dangerous to travel with our crumbling infrastructure. Please note, I might be late for lessons when this happens. If I am very late, I will cancel the lesson and credit you back the lesson excluding travel fees but at times I will request all lessons to start later for that day in order to still fit in everyone should the schedule permits it. Until this late rainy season has passed, this is a situation completly beyond my control. I apologise for the inconvenience that it might cause.

Best wishes,

Werner
