Newsletter #2 - 27 February 2025

What a start to the year. It feels like so much time has passed already. I have been quite on this side due to numerous developments and just being busy getting the year up and running. And we also bid farewell to Summer and welcome Fall or Autumn. I am looking forward to cooler weather for a while.

INVOICES DUE

Apologies for sending invoices so late this month. February is such a short month that time just got the best of me. Please settle as soon as possible. Also check to see if you have any outstanding amounts from previous invoices. I have not pressured too much as February is still a month of recovery for most of us due to January. But from March, I will be strict with accounts and settlements.

THANK YOU FOR YOUR HELP DURING FEBRUARY

February greeted me with a big bang with family crisees. Apart from that, I have refined and introduced new systems that I am trying to get working smoothly. Not to mention the freak weather we experienced during February. The funnel cload or mini tornado that was over the news in Pretoria actually carved it's path 3km from my home. Thank you again for everyone allowing me to move lessons online during last week. I know for many it was not ideal, but it helped me a great deal not to lose control over everything at once. If you have experienced a similar February to mine in any way, I do hope that we have better conditions for March.

FIRST TEST FEEDBACK FOR MATH AND SCIENCE

I want to congratualte all students for starting off with good marks. Most of you have gotten in the 60% or above which is a good start. Getting 60% or above means that you understand the basic concepts and can apply them in most questions. As your marks gets higher from here, it means you are making less unnecessary mistakes. Some students also got marks of 80 and 90%. Well done!

Some parents are worried because of marks starting out like this. Please don't be! It is a new grade, new way of doing things that need to be learned first. As each student is on his/her own journey in learning it is always difficult to predict how marks for the rest of the year will go so early into the year. Also, contrast it to where you have been the year before. If it is better, then you are on the right path. Trust in yourself, and trust the process.

Please keep on working as much as possible, and ask questions constantly. Remember, don't wait until lesson to ask me questions. You all have my number so use it to be proactive with the work.

Also remember, for higher grades, marks will be a roller coaster ride as new conscepts will be introduced swiftly and on a regular basis. You will not always understand the work fully at first. Practice is the key here! Make time to practice during your afternoons. The more time you spend with each topic that is bothersome, the quicker it will improve.
