Newsletter #20 - 14 October 2024

Exams are around the corner. Things are getting very very hectic so I want to share two very important things for this week with you all:

LOCKING IN OF EXAM SCHEDULES

This week, locking in the exam tutor schedules will take priority. Please, everyone should look at their time tables and have them ready during lesson so that we can see how and where we would be able to fit you all in for exam lessons. These will still be treated on a first come, first serve basis, so if you are not proactive about this now, I cannot guarantee that you will get good spots for exams or that any lessons after your exams will be able to be moved forward.

Also, this year I do forsee some issues with music lessons as well. We will have to move around many lessons for the remainder of the year as well. So please be open to changes if possible. I will try to be as flexible with times as possible.

BAD PERFORMANCE AT THE END OF THE YEAR

Some of you are panicking about recent tests that came back that were not that great. Some of you are also panicking during lessons because of basics you cannot remember at this point of the year and so close to the exams. This is quite normal! It isn't fun to see or experience for any of us including me. Believe me, I am having anxiety attacks on all your behalfs on the hour of each day at this time of year. Please, don't let it break your confidence or get to you. Just stay the course and when exam time comes and you start with revision, things will slowly come back again and make sense.

On the bad test marks, remember many of you had to recall information that were done months ago on short notice. I think in one test, there were some errors with a sketch as well that caused panic during the test itself. Though I believe that these things in a test are inexcusable, they do happen and we will be affected by them. The time to start revision is now! We are already doing as much revision as possible. Remember if you do not get it right during lesson, learn from the mistake and the refresh we do on the concepts. These will aid you in getting it right when the appropriate time comes for the exams and the preparation.

We are all tired as well! This also plays a huge factor. Get adequate sleep, start cutting back on unnecessary activities for school and start focussing on your academic work as soon as possible. And remember, I am always there to help and support if needed.

Best wishes,

Werner
