Newsletter #17 - 31 August 2024

The arrival of spring brings a breath of fresh air—literally. The scent of blooming flowers, the refreshing raindrops, that comforting warmth in the air, and the joy of swimming and lazy weekends spent outdoors all signal the season of renewal and hope. And how wonderful it is to celebrate Spring Day on a Sunday this year! Let’s embrace the season with open arms and make plans to kickstart it on a positive note. With the new school term beginning, it’s the perfect time to focus on giving our best effort for the final stretch of the year. Remember, with belief and hard work, anything is possible!

INVOICING

Invoices were sent out on August 27th. Please ensure payment is made by today or, at the latest, before your first lesson. If payment is not received, I will not be able to attend that lesson.

TERM DATES

Our new term officially starts on Monday, September 2nd, 2024. Lessons will resume from that day.

NEW STUDIO PROCEDURES

Initially, I had ambitious plans to work through the holiday on new procedures, as mentioned in the previous newsletter. However, I soon realized that I needed to rest to prepare for the busy months ahead. As a result, the new procedures will be implemented within the next two weeks. The outlines are ready, and the data is being revised to make it clear and easily accessible for everyone.

SCHEDULE CHANGES

For those of you who have requested changes to your lesson dates or times, I will begin working on these adjustments starting Monday. I’ll do my best to accommodate your requests, but please understand that not all changes may be possible immediately. Your patience is greatly appreciated.

PROGRESS REPORTS

Progress reports are currently being integrated with the new studio procedures. I aim to have these reports ready within the next week or two. My goal is to align the reporting with the new procedures to ensure that they accurately reflect each student’s progress. This process is challenging, but if done correctly, it will provide a significant advantage over what any other private tutor offers.

RECENT STUDENT ACHIEVEMENTS

Over the past three weeks, several students participated in music exams and performed at the Central Gauteng Eisteddfod. I am incredibly proud of each of you!

TCL International Exams:

• Sean Wattam: Merit with 82% for Grade Initial Piano Exam.

Central Gauteng Eisteddfod:

• Jiya Khandoo: A for piano performance.

• Lea Jackson: A for piano performance.

• Blake Burmeister: A for piano performance.

• Kiara Burmeister: B+ for piano performance.

• Matthew Hanekom: B for piano performance.

Well done to all of you! I hope you enjoyed the experience and look forward to participating in such events again in the future.

I trust you all had a restful holiday and can’t wait to hear about your recent adventures. See you all soon for your lessons!

Best wishes,

Werner
