No matter where you are in your progress with math, these 5 tips can help you reach new heights.
1. PAY ATTENTION IN CLASS
I know this can be tough, especially if you have a boring teacher or am just simply too tired, but 80% of the concepts that you will learn in class will be remembered if you pay attention and engage during your class.
2. TAKE NOTES
I am not just talking about writing down what is on the board. Get a small A4 or A5 notebook and take down additional notes, especially page numbers and exercise numbers that you had difficulty with. Discuss them with your teacher or if you have a private tutor, send them immediately so that they can be worked on and explained.
3. ASK QUESTIONS
The only way to learn is to ask the most silliest questions. Don't be afraid to ask what others are thinking. While your fellow classmates might laugh at you, you are actually paving a straight line of efficient learning and success. Some might even thank you afterward for doing what they were too afraid to do.
4. BE WILLING TO FAIL
We learn from failing and experimentation so don't be afraid to fail. In fact, fail as many times as you need in order to find your recipe to succeed. From error to error, one discovers the entire truth.
5. PRACTICE, PRACTICE, PRACTICE
The only way to be successful is to practice adequately and refine what you have learned. Set aside additional time daily and practice a topic. Look at exercises and past papers to help you prepare for any scenario. Focus on both the basic and key concepts as well as the applied questions.
