Playing Guide – The Windmill: Understanding the Quaver Notes with Olivia

Quavers can be tricky to play when you are first introduced to them.  Olivia is playing a piece called the Windmill and it has some quavers.  We explore how to play the quavers by counting or feeling the rhythm in connection with the left hand notes.

Quavers counts half a beat of a crotchet.

We can count them in any way that is easy for us but the most common way of doing so is:  1 and 2 and etc. where 1 is a quaver, the “and” is a quaver and so on.
