Sophie is having trouble reading and identifying some of her notes in one of her pieces she is playing. During our Theory session today, she asked me to explain how to get to these notes.
For the younger students I like to teach the following steps:
- Use your rhymes for each clef to get to the highest or lowest line note.
- Next, walk each note up while drawing a ledger line; like climbing steps.
- Remember that the music alphabet only goes from A to G when we count upwards or backwards.
